More than anyone, I understand the whims of the fantasy gods. Look no further than the laughable 2023 season.

So it is with great humility that I accept my week 1 victory, not only against my opponent, but against my entire league.

I’ve been in this position many times before – starting the year 1-0 while scoring the most points in the league on the first week. It’s a testament to my skill as a manager, my ability to put together a strategic and strong draft performance, and the lack of skill some (but not all) of the other managers in my league.

Despite this being a frequent week one performance from me and my teams, I can’t help but smile. A lot of my humble euphoria comes in contrast to all the bullshit from last season, sure. But there’s nothing better than everything coming together to start the year like it did this week.

I sincerely hope Paul gets to experience this one day.

At least he probably won in his other league.
